About Many Good Apples...

Many people have goodness inside of them -- in their hearts, words and actions -- even people we consider to be quite different from ourselves or those with whom we disagree in significant ways.

Let's find new ways to really listen better to others. Let's judge less, talk less, argue less, criticize less -- but listen more. Can we see another's goodness more clearly? Can we develop empathy towards people with very different life experiences and points of view?

Can we learn something valuable in this process? And most importantly, can we help others feel valued by really listening to them?

And as we learn more, how can we take action -- even baby steps -- to make a difference in this world?

ACTION = LOVE.

"Listen with the intent to understand, not the intent to reply." Stephen Covey

What Many Good Apples IS...

We are dedicated to listening better, in order to learn more and increase empathy, compassion, connection and action.

Listening Sessions on the Zoom platform provide a safe way for anyone to listen to and learn from people with different experiences, knowledge, opinions and emotions.  The goal is listening to understand more about others, without knee-jerk reactions, judgement or defensiveness.

We work to support and illuminate the goodness in other people, as we learn about others' lives, challenges, priorities, interests and passions.  In listening and learning, we want to find ways to take more positive actions in this world!

"The most effective way to show compassion to another is to listen, rather than talk. You have an opportunity to practice deep, compassionate listening." Thich Nhat Hanh, Buddist Monk & Zen Master

What Many Good Apples is NOT...

Many Good Apples is NOT a political organization; we are here to promote listening to people with ALL kinds of experiences, challenges, beliefs and opinions.  Real listening can result in learning, and seeing the good in others...which then hopefully leads to more effective personal action to help others in our world.

We are NOT here to get into heated debates about issues -- there are other places to argue and battle -- but rather we want to respectfully listen to and ask clarifying questions of MANY different people.

We are NOT here to fund-raise for specific causes or organizations.  We are here to encourage you and everyone to listen more, to learn, and to take action in whatever way YOU are motivated!

What issues & challenges ignite your passion?

Would YOU like to speak to others about your own experiences, beliefs, and challenges? Let us know!

"We cannot all do great things. But we can do small things with great love." Mother Theresa "Someone is on your side...someone else is not...while we're seeing our side, maybe we forgot they are not alone... no one is alone." Stephen Sondheim

How can we better listen, learn & Act?

First, let's focus on daily ways to LISTEN more to others.

* Day to day, listen more, talk less.

* When a few open moments appear in daily life, instead of picking up the phone to scroll for something to look at on social media, converse with a human.

* Ask: "Help me to understand."

* Read more books, articles, and/or social media -- practice reading what is written by people whom we think hold different beliefs and opinions than ourselves.  Reading is also listening.

You are welcome to participate in our Many Good Apples Online Listening Sessions...

In order for Listening Sessions to be safe AND be able to accommodate participants from all over, our sessions will be held on the Zoom platform.

All Listening Sessions will be moderated, and only respectful behavior and speech will be allowed.

Listening Sessions are not a place for arguments or debate; they are a place to be heard and a place to listen to others.
